RAECO SkimWall is a fast setting, smooth textured, high strength, single component, concrete repair compound for exterior or interior concrete walls and floors. Consisting of a uniform, premixed blend of Portland cements and select aggregates with polymer modification to promote lasting surface adhesion, SkimWall is used for renovation and new construction.
Purpose/Range of Use
Intended for patching and skimming exterior concrete walls, CMU masonry block walls, tilt-up panels, pre-cast concrete structures, poly-styrene insulation board and other cementituous substrates. RAECO SkimWall is formulated to be used as wall overlay skimming compound to provide a smooth, even colored, monolithic cement finish. With the proper adjustment of water, RAECO SkimWall be also be used for filling bug holes, honeycombs, pop-outs, inserts recesses, brace points, chamfer spalls and reveal strip repairs. For larger patches thicker than 1/2” inch, it is recommended to use RAECO V/O Patch.
Raeco SkimWall may be used on horizontal concrete in foot traffic applications, as long as it is properly sealed.
Raeco SkimWall may be used for interior applications over all suitable flooring materials except unprimed drywall or gypsum-based underlayments.
RAECO SkimWall is intended for multi-purpose repairs and is also formulated as a floor covering underlayment. RAECO SkimWall can be applied from a feather edge to 1/2” in thickness, and up to 2” with the addition of # 16 silica sand.
RAECO SkimWall is designed for smoothing and patching walls on projects where an ultra smooth surface is desired in a short amount of time and true concrete color is desirable. RAECO SkimWall may be light rubbed with a damp sponge after 45 minutes, or sanded after 90 minutes.

Mixing Water
For skim coat applications:
2.0 qts. per 15 lb. pail. For smaller batches, use a mix ratio of 3 parts powder to 1 part water can be used.
For thicker patching applications and filling small well-defined voids:
1.8 quarts per 15 lb. pail. For smaller batches, a mix ratio of 2.75 parts powder to 1 part water.

Coverage
15 lbs. (8.0 kg) covers approximately 38 ft at a thickness of 1/8”.
Skim coating varies from 150 to 275 SF per pail depending on existing substrate profile.
Installation
Use a steel finish trowel to place the RAECO SkimWall to a properly prepared substrate forcing the material into the voids. A test application is recommended and required for all extended warranties.
Concrete Walls
Surface must be solid, completely clean, free of oil, wax, grease, sealers, curing compounds, efflorescence, paint, dirt, loose surface material and any contaminant that will act as a bondbreaker. Weak concrete surfaces must be cleaned down to solid sound concrete by mechanical means. Acid etching or chemical cleaning is not acceptable. Expansion joints, panel joints and all moving joints must be honored.
Metal Substrates
RAECO SkimWall will bond to most ferrous steels, provided they are free of bond-breaking residues and rust-free. Some non-ferrous steel (such as stainless steel) may require an epoxy primer.
Mixing and Installation
Mix only enough RAECO SkimWall that can be placed and finished with in 15 minutes at 70 F. Higher substrate temperatures will cause the RAECO SkimWall to set faster and lower temperatures will extend set times. Smaller batches can be mixed at a 3 part powder to 1 part water mix ratio. Always mix with water in a pail first, adding the powder second. A full batch can be mixed by adding 2.0 quarts of water to a fifteen pound pail. Mix with a 350 rpm minimum mixing drill and paddle to a lump free consistency. Do not over mix or entrain additional air into the product.
Thickness
RAECO SkimWall can be installed from a feather edge to ½” in one application. SkimWall may be installed up to 2” inches with the addition of #16 silica sand.
Curing
RAECO SkimWall is self curing. The process of concrete curing is not required. RAECO SkimWall is walkable in 45 minutes and will accept floor coverings in 60 minutes. Deeper patches may require additional dry time.
Note: RAECO SkimWall is cement based; therefore follow ACI rules of concrete work regarding warm and cold weather placement procedures. Hot temperatures above 85°F will reduce working time, therefore use cold water. Cold weather (below 55°F) will have a retarding effect on set times, therefore it will be beneficial to store SkimWall in a warm building and use lukewarm mix water. Do not place below 45ºF (4ºC). Do not allow to freeze and always protect from wind, direct sunlight. Do not use fossil fuel heaters in any space prepared for cement products, paint or floor coverings. Do not mix with admixtures unless given written direction from RAECO. Any questions, contact our customer service at 1-800-938-7925.
